September 25, 2023
By Kay Sikes, Identity and Access Management Specialist

Building on annual success, Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2023 is set to highlight the growing importance of cybersecurity in our daily lives and to empower individuals and businesses to take cybersecurity steps by making it more accessible.

For its 8th year, Catalyst Corporate has signed on as a Champion for Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM) 2023. Celebrated every October, CAM promotes cybersecurity awareness and best practices. The CAM Champions Program is a collaborative effort among businesses, government agencies, nonprofits and other organizations committed to the theme of “It’s easy to stay safe online.” The theme reminds internet users that there are plenty of simple ways to keep personal information and private data secure when online.

Recognizing that its employees are the first line of defense, Catalyst Corporate is dedicated to fostering their awareness of the pivotal role they play in safeguarding cyberspace.

Catalyst Corporate’s campaign activities include:

  • Cookout co-sponsored by Catalyst IT Security and Human Resources teams celebratingCAM 2023 International Credit Union Day and CAM
  • Information security vendor “swag” distributed to employees
  • LinkedIn Learning Challenge on the four best practices for cybersecurity

CAM is designed to engage and educate, raising awareness to increase resiliency in the event of a cyber incident. Everyone’s efforts are necessary to maintain a cyberspace that is safe and a source of opportunity and growth for years to come.

This year, CAM will focus on four key cybersecurity best practices:

  1. Enabling multi-factor authentication on personal devices and business networks
  2. Using strong passwords and a password manager
  3. Updating software on a regular basis and turning on automated updates
  4. Recognizing and reporting phishing

The influx of cybersecurity news articles about massive data breaches and hackers can seem overwhelming and leave you feeling powerless. CAM demonstrates that cybersecurity doesn’t have to be scary. Adopting secure habits can be easy and even add peace of mind when you know your virtual life is safe.

CAM continues to expand with the goal of providing everyone essential information to stay safe and secure online. Catalyst Corporate is proud to support this far-reaching online safety awareness and education initiative which is co-led by National Cyber Security Alliance and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
