‘Tis the Season of Giving

by Catalyst Corporate | Dec 10, 2019

The holidays are a busy, yet exciting, time of year. There’s fun to be had, memories to be made, gifts to wrap and family traditions to enjoy – reminding us of all the reasons we have to be thankful.

2019 has been a year of many blessings for Catalyst Corporate. It was marked by a successful executive leadership transition, a new brand launch and another successful Salvation Army_12.09Economic & Payments Forum. And all were made possible by the support of our members and volunteers.

To show our gratitude, Catalyst Corporate participates in various giving opportunities throughout the year. The spirit of volunteerism and community involvement extends into the framework of our organization. In addition to supporting numerous credit union industry organizations and events each year, here are a few other ways we get involved:

  • Each Catalyst Corporate staff member may take up to 16 hours of paid volunteer time every year, which can be used to support an organization or cause of their choice. Some employees volunteer individually, while others organize group efforts as team building exercises and departmental outings. Just a few weeks shy of the new year, Catalyst Corporate employees have amassed a total of 300 volunteer hours for 2019.
  • During this holiday season, neighboring InTouch Credit Union and Catalyst Corporate have partnered for a second annual toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots. Together, we hope to bring smiles to children and families across the Dallas-Fort Worth community.
  • For the last 20 years, Catalyst Corporate has participated in the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program and is currently sponsoring 30 angels to help ensure the holidays are happy and bright for all.
  • Catalyst Corporate's Leadership Team, as well as senior management, both volunteered with Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) this year. Together, they packed a total of 17,751 life-sustaining meals for children all over the world!
  • Catalyst Corporate supports Carter Blood Care in its need for life-saving donations by hosting two blood drives a year at our corporate headquarters.
  • Every summer, a wildly-popular “Shorts and Flip Flops Campaign” raises staff donations for several non-profit organizations. From May to September, Catalyst Corporate employees vote on a monthly recipient of the funds raised and can then make a $20 donation in exchange for more casual office attire. This year’s campaign raised money for the Cornerstone Credit Union League, Operation Kindness, Feed my Starving Children, and the North Texas Food Bank.
  • At this year’s Economic & Payments Forum, Catalyst Corporate raised more than $4,000 for the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation with its “Lunar Luncheon,” featuring former U.S. astronaut Harrison Schmitt. It was truly an out-of-this-world experience for a great cause!
  • Catalyst Corporate recognizes the unpredictable and devastating impact natural disasters can have on credit unions and the local communities they serve. We were honored in 2019 to lend a helping hand to fellow credit unions in the southeast during Hurricane Dorian, as well as to the credit unions affected by the California wildfires.

All in all, Catalyst Corporate has much to be thankful for and it starts with you. We hope to continue “paying it forward” with more volunteer and community involvement efforts in the future. After all, there’s no better gift than the gift of giving!
