Chrome/Edge Update Causing Scanner Issues (Revised)
Apr 16, 2026

Catalyst has identified that recent updates to Chrome and Edge browsers may cause scanners to stop communicating with TranzCapture. This is typically caused by site permissions being changed or restricted for local network access and apps on device. The steps below are intended to verify both settings are enabled and to ensure TranZact is not listed on any blocked (“Not allowed”) lists.

Chrome Instructions (verify settings & remove blocks)

  1. Click the 3 dots (top right)
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Click "Privacy and security"
  4. Click "Site settings"
  5. Click "Additional permissions"
  6. Click "Apps on device"
    1. Verify: “Sites can ask to access other apps and services on this device” is enabled
    2. Verify: TranZact is NOT listed under “Not allowed” (remove if present)
  7. Go back to "Additional permissions"
  8. Click "Local network"
    1. Verify: Local network is set to “Allow”
    2. Verify: TranZact is NOT listed under “Not allowed” (remove if present)
  9. If prompted while using TranZact, select Allow (this prompt may or may not appear during scanning)

Edge Instructions (verify settings & remove blocks)

  1. Click the 3 dots (top right)
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Click "Privacy,search and services"
  4. Click "Site permissions"
  5. Click "All permissions"
  6. Click "Apps on device"
    1. Verify: “Ask before accessing” is enabled
    2. Verify: TranZact is NOT listed under “Not allowed” (remove if present)
  7. Go back to "All permissions"
  8. Click "Local network"
    1. Verify: Local network is set to “Allow”
    2. Verify: TranZact is NOT listed under “Not allowed” (remove if present)
  9. If prompted while using TranZact, select Allow (this prompt may or may not appear during scanning)

These steps ensure both required permissions are properly enabled and that no blocked entries are preventing scanner communication after recent browser updates. If issues continue after confirming both settings, please reach out to the IP Project Team for assistance.
