Tara M. Sinclair is a macroeconomist and professor of economics and international affairs at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. She uses her research to connect economic principles with real-world concerns, developing data sources and tools to inform decision-making. She is a sought-after public speaker who regularly consults with public officials, business leaders, and the press on issues related to recessions, labor market dynamics, forecasting, big data, macroeconomics, and monetary policy.

In addition to her teaching and research work at GW, Dr. Sinclair is a Senior Fellow at the Indeed Hiring Lab where she uses Indeed’s unique labor market data to develop new economic indicators on hiring and employment. As director of the H. O. Stekler Research Program on Forecasting, she evaluates real time economic data and forecasts with an eye toward how they can affect policy and business decisions. Dr. Sinclair also serves as a member of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Technical Advisory Committee.

Dr. Sinclair earned her PhD in economics from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 2005.
