September 14, 2022
By Kay Sikes, Identity and Access Management Specialist

2022 efforts set to highlight the growing importance of cybersecurity in our daily lives and to empower individuals and businesses to take cybersecurity steps.

Catalyst Corporate reaffirmed its commitment to Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM) as a Champion participant for the seventh consecutive year. Founded in 2004, Cybersecurity Awareness Month, held each October, is the world’s foremost initiative aimed at promoting cybersecurity awareness and best practices. The Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champions Program is a collaborative effort among businesses, government agencies, nonprofits and other organizations committed to the CAM theme: “It’s easy to stay safe online. #BeCyberSmart.”

Catalyst Corporate considers its employees a primary line of defense and strives to make them aware of their key role in protecting cyberspace.

National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Catalyst Corporate’s campaign activities include:

  • Dedicated CAM campaign webpage
  • Daily KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training Blog feeds
  • Social Engineering “Phish of the Sea” teams that provide a fun, competitive way to promote understanding of attack strategies and how hasty review of email can make us vulnerable to phishing attacks.

From mobile to connected home devices, technology is intertwined in our everyday lives. While technology is evolving at the speed of sound, cyber criminals are working harder to find ways to compromise technology and disrupt personal and business life. Cybersecurity Awareness Month highlights some of the emerging challenges and provides straightforward, actionable guidance for creating a safe and secure digital world.

This year, CAM’s four fundamental cybersecurity best practices are:

  • Recognizing and reporting phishing – still one of the primary threat actions used by cybercriminals today.
  • Understanding the benefits of using a password manager and dispelling existing myths around password manager security and ease of use.
  • Enabling multi-factor authentication on personal devices and business networks.
  • Installing updates on a regular basis and turning on automated updates.

CAM is designed to engage and educate, raising awareness about cybersecurity to increase resiliency in the event of a cyber incident. Everyone’s efforts are necessary to maintain a cyberspace that is safe and a source of opportunity and growth for years to come.

Now in its 19th year, CAM continues to build momentum and impact with the goal of providing information to keep people safe and secure online. Catalyst Corporate is proud to support this far-reaching initiative, which is co-led by the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
